  1. Matt thank you for this video. I’m in the process of starting my virtual bookkeeping business. I’ve been retired for 3 years now. I had a career in real estate from 1991 – 2017. My last few years I branched out and opened my own brokerage. I want to take lessons learned from my past business into my bookkeeping business. Not exactly sure where to find clients; how to price my services; and where to market. I have no accounting or real bookkeeping experience. I do have a Masters degree in management. Taking a big leap of faith starting this journey. Any input/words of wisdom would be most appreciated.

  2. I have been asked by two people in my family if I could help them manage their finances. I have an accounting degree, but I still feel like I don’t know a lot so I was hesitant. I thought about just using Quickbooks, but I wasn’t too sure, but this video was the confirmation that I needed. Thank you!

  3. Thanks for this! Are there any templates/recommendations on how to present the compiled monthly statements to clients? Is this included as part of Quickbooks? If you could show us an example run through for a sample month that’d be great!

  4. Would you recommend the plus or advanced tier option for the quickbooks online? Plus claims “popular” and advanced claims “powerful”- for a strong successful beginner business, what are your thoughts on this with vision to maintain/ “wow” new clients.

  5. Should we start an llc / scorp before starting the book keeping side gig? What’s a good fee range to charge per business size?

  6. Hello Matt, which software do you use in Quickbooks? I see one called “Manage expenses
for freelancers” and another called “Accounting for

  7. This may be a stupid question, but how do you get access to your client accounts to see their transactions ??

  8. If you allow your vision to only see, where seems possible or reasonable, you limit the true potential of your success. Open your eyes ??We all want to get more money and want to be more successful but fail to do the basic. If you want a change in your life and standard of living, follow above name.

  9. Did you work for a public firm while doing this? I’m a CPA pretty early in my career and this sounds like a lucrative idea. Especially considering I already clean up small business books consistently when it comes tax time.

My only concern is limited exposure to QB while in public accounting other than receiving reports printed by clients. I have used QB before but it was years ago. Does this come back pretty quick if you are a tax CPA?

    Thanks for the content 🙂

  10. thanks I am looking for Cliens for bookkeeping, also ready to work with an accountant online. I am an accountant.

Hi, thank you so much for the informational video. I am just done with my MBA at UT Austin and have exposure to accounting. I am looking into book keeping as side hustle. Would love to get some pointers and guidance on how to get my first 2-3 clients. Thanks!

  12. Great video, very encouraging, I am about to start a bookkeeping course to start my new life, I was unsure about myself but you’ve made it sound achievable
    Thank you 😊
